LVL Lashes.

My blog is usually about food, books, or a little life update, but this time it’s something a bit different. I will be writing a little life update soon, but today, it’s all about beauty. I was very kindly gifted LVL Lashes from Beauty By Jo.

I’ll be the first person to admit that I’m no expert when it comes to beauty treatments, and also slightly dubious. Mainly because I think they’re something that once you start, you can’t stop! A little like cosmetic surgery or facial aesthetics. Jo gave me a choice of having either HD Brows or LVL Lashes. I chose to go for the lashes because it’s something I’ve never had done, so thought it would be a great experience and to learn something new!

Jo is based in Kelvedon, which is only around 20 minutes from Colchester, and her beauty room is beautiful. It has a lovely, relaxing vibe and Jo will put you at ease straight away. When I first arrived, I signed some paperwork regarding any allergies etc, and then Jo went through how the process would work. I actually really enjoyed having my lashes done, even though it felt strange at times!

Prior to my appointment, Jo sent me a patch test to ensure that I wouldn’t have a bad reaction to any part of the treatment, and thankfully, I was fine! From beginning to end, I was there around 50 minutes and it went really quickly! It’s quite a nice treatment to have as you just get to lay down with your eyes shut the whole time! Not one part of it was uncomfortable or painful and you get used to the sensation of the eye shields quickly.

I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived, or how they would end up looking. As, let’s face it, we’ve all seen people with eyelashes that look like tarantula legs, and that’s something I definitely didn’t want! But, I am so thrilled with the result! I love them and cannot believe how natural they look. It’s definitely a treatment I would love to get again. They’re perfect for someone who is lazy with make up like me!

Jo is very reasonable and charges £35 for your first set, and £40 after that. The LVL lashes should last between 6-8 weeks if you follow the correct follow-up advice and use the right products. As the beauty market is becoming more competitive, I think it’s important to support the local, independent businesses. Jo has two young children and is trying to build a new career and business for herself. She is passionate about learning new skills and in October is going to train to do gel nails, so she will be able to offer those, just in time for Christmas!

If you want to find out more, or enquire about a treatment, just visit Jo’s Instagram and Facebook page.
