There’s no doubt that lockdown has been tough on everyone. We shouldn’t moan too much as we’re out of the way of Coronavirus. But, being at home can have a devastating effect on our mental and physical health. It can be hard to feel motivated to be productive and achieve things you thought would be easy if you had a lot of free time. Lockdown has given all of us that chance, but with no end in sight, you feel like you have too much time some days. Over the last week or so, I’ve felt myself slip into a little slump with my motivation and productivity. I have felt lethargic and drained, but the weather definitely didn’t help last week!
This weekend, we spent our time being productive. If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen on my stories that Tom built me a bookcase from scratch and we had a good deep clean of the house. I even cleaned the windows, and if you know me, you will know that spending my weekend cleaning is very out of character! However, it really set me up for the week. Working in a tidy, clean, bright environment is so much easier. So I thought it might be a good idea to jot down a few ideas for blog posts just in case you’re struggling too.
-
Recipes – I’ve noticed that ore people have been experimenting with food and cooking more. Cooking is a fantastic way to pass the time, to get creative and learn a new skill. It’s also a brilliant way to get your children involved. Home schooling doesn’t have to be just Maths and English worksheets. Learning to cook will serve them well in the future. I love writing new recipes and creating new ones. I’m aiming for two new ones a week.
-
Books – I’ve bought SO many new books during lockdown and most of them are ones that been recommendations on Instagram. Writing book reviews or even just writing about books you enjoyed is a great way to get back into the swing of things.
-
Craft ideas – if you’re a parent, I’m sure you have struggled with keeping kids entertained and trying to home-school them. On instagram I have seen many parents get creative with odd bits and bobs laying around the house – @littlepaperswan has some fantastic ideas on her instagram and even has a mini-magazine that is full of ideas on how you can keep your children busy!
-
Thoughts – sounds very broad! A blog can be used like a diary – sometimes we need to vent. Or just get all of our thoughts and ideas out of our heads. Lockdown has had quite a bad effect on some peoples mental health. Not being able to have a normal routine, uncertainty surrounding many jobs and the risk of catching coronavirus builds up to feel quite overwhelming. Just typing them out and talking to other people on blogs and social media pages can make such a big difference.

Lists. Let people get to know you. Your favourite foods, cities, books etc. What makes you, you. Tell your audience more about the person they choose to follow.
-
Tell your followers what you have been doing to keep active and creative. For instance, many bloggers rely on going out for their content, how have you adjusted to this? Share your ideas and tips, there will be some people out there who appreciate it immensely.

Sitting down to write a blog really isn’t the easiest thing to do. You need motivation, ideas and a voice to make it work. I have worked on my blog for years and it’s only been throughout the last year that I have got to a place where I’m happy with it!
